thebigword is marking the fifth anniversary of its specialist Defence Division with celebrations and the securing of a NATO contract.

thebigword’s defence division, founded in 2013 in response to demand for language services from defence firms, national and supranational Government’s and organisations operating in conflict zones, works in 21 countries across the world in more than 250 languages and has provided specialist linguists in the Middle East, Africa, Americas and Europe – Including Afghanistan and Iraq.

Most recently, NATO awarded thebigword Defence Division a five year contract to deliver specialist support to the multi-national forces in multiple locations across Afghanistan.

Larry Gould, CEO of thebigword said:

“The Defence Division was set up to provide organisations and Government’s with the very specialist language support they need, including highly trained, security cleared speakers of languages used in conflict zones by peacekeeping forces and locals. We work with some of the best linguist partners in the world, meaning we can provide the very best to our clients.

That’s reflected in the trust put in us by NATO, BAE Systems, US Department of Defense UK Ministry of Defence and other organisations and we’re projecting major growth in the next two years as well as the need for very specialist language support becomes even more crucial in the quest for global security.”
